À qui s'adresse cet article ?
- You are adding spectral monitoring to your setup because you want to stop guessing your actual light intensity levels.
- You are connecting this to your controller because you want to automate light output based on real-time PPFD data.
Ce que nous avons découvert
- The spectral response is calibrated for LEDs, which solves the common issue of overestimating light in diode arrays.
- It acts as a set-and-forget bridge between your light and your controller to keep your canopy levels steady.
Ce que disent les utilisateurs
- Operators who link this to their controllers say they finally stopped seeing light stress caused by intensity spikes.
- Users who previously relied on manual spot checks say they now trust their system to manage light cycles overnight.
TrolMaster MBS-PAR Quantum PAR Sensor
Guessing your light levels isn't a growing strategy — it's a gamble. Too little PAR stunts development, while too much wastes energy and risks light stress. The TrolMaster MBS-PAR Full Spectrum Quantum Sensor eliminates that uncertainty with precise, real-time PAR measurements across all light source types. When connected to a compatible environmental controller like the TrolMaster Hydro-X HCS-1 Grow Tent Control, it goes further — automatically raising or lowering your light output to continuously hold the exact PPFD level you set, ensuring your canopy gets consistent, optimized light every hour of the cycle.
Covering a spectral range of 389 to 692 nm (±5 nm), the MBS-PAR features an improved spectral response specifically calibrated for accurate LED measurements — a known weakness in standard quantum sensors. It installs in minutes using the included post clamp, RJ12 cable, T-splitter, and end caps, making it a true plug-and-play solution for any professional or hobbyist grow environment.

FAQs
PAR (Photosynthetically Active Radiation) is the portion of the light spectrum — roughly 400 to 700 nm — that plants use to drive photosynthesis. PPFD (Photosynthetic Photon Flux Density) measures how much of that light is reaching your canopy each second. Dialing in the right PPFD for each growth stage ensures plants receive consistent, optimized light — preventing both under-lighting and light stress from overexposure.
The MBS-PAR is compatible with all three TrolMaster environmental control platforms: the Hydro-X, Green-X, and Tent-X. When connected to any of these controllers alongside a dimmable lighting system, it enables fully automatic PPFD-based light adjustment to maintain your target level hands-free.
Once wired into a compatible TrolMaster controller and paired with a dimmable fixture, the MBS-PAR reads PPFD levels at canopy height in real time. If the measured value drifts from your set target — due to lamp degradation, ambient light changes, or warm-up variance — the controller automatically trims or boosts the dimming output to restore the exact level you programmed.
The MBS-PAR measures PAR from all light sources — including LED, HPS, CMH, and fluorescent. Its key advantage is an improved spectral response specifically designed to correct the measurement inaccuracies that standard quantum sensors produce when reading LED fixtures, where they commonly underreport actual PPFD.
Mount the MBS-PAR at canopy height — the level of your plants' uppermost leaves — for the most representative PPFD readings. Use the included 1/2" post clamp to secure it to a tent pole or trellis bar. Position it away from direct airflow or irrigation zones where moisture could contact the sensor.
Yes — TrolMaster recommends keeping the sensor clean and dry at all times to prevent premature failure. Avoid mounting it where condensation or irrigation runoff can accumulate. The rated operating humidity is ≤90%, but direct water contact should always be avoided.
The included RJ12 T-Splitter allows multiple sensors to be daisy-chained along the same bus. The exact number of supported devices depends on your specific TrolMaster station configuration and the controller's total device capacity.
