Is this system compatible with my specific HVAC brand?

The HCS-1 is compatible with most HVAC systems through the use of specific TrolMaster stations, such as the TS-2 HVAC Thermostat Station. It uses standard 24V thermostat wiring or 0-10V signals depending on the adapter chosen.

Can I use this with satellite internet services like HughesNet?

No, the HCS-1 is not compatible with HughesNet or Viasat satellite internet services. These services often have high latency or connection protocols that prevent the remote app from communicating reliably with the controller.

How do I record my room data for later analysis?

You must insert a MicroSD card (32GB or less) into the slot on the unit. The system will then automatically log environmental data which can be viewed on a computer via CSV format.

What happens if the internet connection is lost?

The HCS-1 will continue to execute all programmed environmental settings and local automation logic without an internet connection. You will only lose remote app access and push notification alerts until the connection is restored.

How many lights can I control with one HCS-1?

The system can control an unlimited number of lights if they are daisy-chained together, provided they are all within the same zone. The HCS-1 provides two separate lighting control channels to manage different light types or schedules.

Is the installation difficult for someone without electrical experience?

The system uses low-voltage RJ12 cables for most connections, making it very straightforward to set up. However, connecting HVAC stations to your furnace or AC unit may require basic understanding of thermostat wiring.
