Who This Is For

  • You are scaling up your controller array because you have run out of ports on your existing hub.
  • You are setting up multiple LED light fixtures because your existing splitter chains keep dropping the signal.

What We Found

  • We have seen enough daisy-chained splitters fail to know a powered hub is the only way to keep signal path clean.
  • The signal boost inside this unit makes it a reliable fix for anyone dealing with flickering light arrays.

What Users Say

  • Users who replaced their passive splitter chains with this hub report they finally have stable light control.
  • Growers who consolidated their module wiring into this central point say they saved hours on maintenance.

TrolMaster SPH-1 8-Port RJ12 Powered Splitter Hub

Daisy-chaining Y-splitters across a TrolMaster system works — until the cable runs get long, the device count gets high, or you're trying to control an array of LED grow lights that demands a clean, boosted signal path. The TrolMaster SPH-1 is a powered 8-port RJ12 splitter hub that replaces Y-splitter chains with a single central connection point, providing eight individual RJ12 jacks for environmental sensors, modules, and lighting adapters. Its active signal booster ensures commands pass cleanly to all connected devices — including large arrays of LED fixtures — without degradation. A single RJ12 cable runs back to the main controller, such as the TrolMaster Hydro-X HCS-1, keeping the overall wiring layout clean and manageable. Mount it centrally and route all device connections from one point.

Compatibility: TrolMaster Hydro-X, Green-X, and Tent-X Systems

⚠️ Do not connect the 12V DC power adapter to the SPH-1 when using a single LMA adapter. Exception: 12V power IS required when using the LMA-T with a ThinkGrow light system.

What's Included

  • 1 × RJ12 Splitter Hub (SPH-1)
  • 1 × 12V Power Adapter
  • 1 × 4ft RJ12 Cable

Features

🔌
8 RJ12 Ports

Eight individual RJ12 jacks connect sensors like the MBS-PRO 4-in-1 sensor, 110V device stations, and lighting adapters from a single hub — eliminating Y-splitter daisy chains entirely.

Active Signal Boost

Powered hub actively boosts signals passing through it — enabling reliable control of large LED fixture arrays and long cable runs without signal degradation.

🗺️
Central Hub Architecture

Mount the SPH-1 at a central location and run all device connections from one point — one RJ12 cable back to the controller keeps the system layout clean.

💡
LED Array Compatible

Specifically suited to managing arrays of LED grow fixtures — the powered signal boost handles the load that passive splitter chains cannot reliably support.

🔧
Plug & Play Setup

Power adapter and 4ft RJ12 cable included. Ready to use out of the box — no configuration or additional hardware required for standard setups.

FAQs

What is the SPH-1 used for?+

The SPH-1 is a powered 8-port RJ12 splitter hub that consolidates all device connections in a TrolMaster system into a single central point, eliminating the need for Y-splitter daisy chains. It actively boosts signals passing through it, making it especially useful for large LED fixture arrays or long cable runs where passive splitters can cause signal degradation. One RJ12 cable runs from the SPH-1 back to a main controller like the Aqua-X NFS-1 irrigation controller.

When should I NOT connect the 12V power adapter to the SPH-1?+

TrolMaster specifies that the 12V DC power adapter should NOT be connected to the SPH-1 when using a single LMA adapter — with one exception: 12V power IS required when using the LMA-T adapter with a ThinkGrow light system. For all other single LMA adapter setups, leave the power adapter disconnected to avoid potential damage to the adapter or connected fixtures.

What is the difference between the SPH-1 and a standard Y-splitter?+

A standard RJ12 Y-splitter is a passive device — it splits the signal without boosting it, which can cause degradation when multiple splitters are chained together or when long cable runs are involved. The SPH-1 is an active powered hub that boosts the signal as it distributes it across all eight ports, maintaining signal integrity regardless of device count or cable length. It also provides eight organized ports in place of a tangle of individual splitters.

How many devices can I connect to the SPH-1?+

The SPH-1 provides eight RJ12 ports, allowing up to eight device connections — including CO2 sensors, DSD-1 dry contact stations, lighting adapters, or other RJ12-compatible TrolMaster devices — from a single hub. One port is typically used for the RJ12 cable running back to the main controller, leaving seven ports available for peripherals in a standard configuration.

Does the SPH-1 work with LED grow light arrays?+

Yes — the SPH-1's active signal boost is specifically noted as making it suitable for controlling arrays of LED grow fixtures. Where a passive Y-splitter chain may lose signal integrity across multiple LMA adapters and fixtures, the SPH-1's powered hub maintains clean signal delivery to all connected devices simultaneously.

Where should I mount the SPH-1 in my grow room?+

Mount the SPH-1 at a central location in your grow space — ideally at the midpoint of where your connected devices are distributed. This minimizes individual cable run lengths from the hub to each device and keeps the single return cable to the main controller as short and clean as possible. Wall mounting near the canopy level works well for LED lighting setups.
